Sleeping?

- I’ll never be gone.
- Won’t you? – asked him, suddenly getting close to her in bed. – I thought you already were… You know, ever since you went away for the last time.
-Well, I thought that too but… - she took a deep breath, trying to not look into those shining and hopeful eyes.  – I think I can’t ever leave this land. My family is here, you know. And all of my oldest and dearest friends. And you.
- And me – whispered him, thoughtful. – Is there any chance of we living together…Trying to have a life here? We both love London, and most of times things are easier with our best friends around. Don’t you want me to pick you after work and come singing and driving for you? I didn’t forget all the songs I wrote for you, even more the ones that are “loving”, in your own words.
She smiled but her eyes kept some shadow of sadness, he could easily see.
-          It sounds like a peaceful and amazing dream, but…
-          But what?
-          Do you think it’s really, really possible? – she turned to him, drowning into his eyes deeply as a scared child. Her eyes were shining brighter than ever, and it was easy to feel her intentions. This time, finally, she was there, indeed, not just for a visit. When she was speaking this slowly and low, he always knew she was insecure, needing his embrace. Instead, he caressed her ginger hair softly, almost without touching her, as she loved the most.
-          - It’s the old story: we’ll only know if we try.
-          - You know I want to…
-          - You want to try but you have to let a lot behind for it, right? – she agreed with her head. He took a deep breath, trying to figure out how could them ever find a way of facing her fears.  He holded her strongly against him, trying to believe that it was all they needed. And it really was, somehow. Anyway, they  were meant to be in London, together, under the rain and looking the horizon after a tuff day, or having fun at the Green Park on a holiday – together, after all, because they deserved it. And it was the best Christmas gift ever.
